Chocolat Review

Hello Everyone :)

I just finished Chocolat!
I absolutely loved it!
It was actually in a strange way similar to Howl's, in that it was set in a small village, and they share the same sort of charm :)
I really like these sorts of books, they remind me of winter, all cosy and warm, a pot of chocolat sitting in my lap, a book in my hand, and being huddled up under a blanket by the fireplace.
My favourite time of year.

Chocolat is really about temptation, friendship, and food!
The descriptions in this book are mouth watering, so much so that I actually craved chocolate when I was reading, and a few times had to get up and have a piece. Just one! But it was sufficient :)

The preist in the book was really annoying, because I understand that he didn't want chocolate himself, but he didn't have to ruin it for Vivanne (the chocolatier). I mean, by avoiding chocolate it makes you do things that I don't think you could justify as 'holy' anyway! If you read it, you'll see I'm referring to the end of the novel.

It's really worth a read, and I'm so looking forward to watching the movie again, and reading the sequel, 'The Lollipop Shoes'. I can't wait to meet Vivanne in Paris (where the next novel is set!)

xoxo R
